Meek bank clerk Geoffrey Dent embezzles money at his girlfriend Laura's urging. When Laura is attacked, Geoffrey flees with the cash. Hiding in a Cheltenham boarding house, he is pursued by both a detective and the killer, who now targets Geoffrey.
