Nic Sheff (Chalamet) is the perfect son. Charming and smart, he’s been accepted to every college that he’s applied to and has a good relationship with his dad (Carell), but when he tries an addictive drug for the first time, his life starts spiraling out of his control. For his dad, it feels like nothing he can do can help his son, and a sense of desperate futility sets in as Nic rebuffs all attempts to help him, straining the bonds between father and son and putting Nic’s future and life in jeopardy.
