Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank "Ponch" Poncherello (Peña) both join the California Highway Patrol in Los Angeles, but for very different reasons. Baker is a professional motorbike rider who believes this career path will save his marriage. Poncherello is a cocky undercover FBI agent who is sent into the force to investigate a heist that may have been an inside job. The inexperienced rookie and the hardened veteran are forced to rely on each other as they throw themselves into danger to fight the bad guys.
