Lifelong friends Willie (Freeman), Joe (Caine) and Al (Arkin) dream of a peaceful retirement, and of being able to support their loved ones. After Joe’s mortgage rate is tripled, he is forced to turn to the bank when he can't pay what he owes. While he's there, the bank is robbed, and he watches the professionals make off with millions. When the bank announces that it will be freezing their pension payments, the men become desperate to pay the bills and help their families. The three straight-and-narrow friends decide to go on a daring adventure and rob the bank that has their money.
