The popular children's horror novels from author R.L. Stine come to life in this action-adventure film. When Zach Cooper (Minnette) and his mother (Ryan) move to a small town, he meets his pretty neighbor, Hannah (Rush), but her father, R.L. Stine (Black), warns Zach to stay away. One night, Zach hears a scream coming from Hannah's house and rushes over, where he discovers all of the manuscripts from the "Goosebumps" novels locked in a cellar. After accidentally unleashing all of the monsters, Zach, Hannah and R.L. Stine must work together to get the monsters back in the books.
