Christmas is comming, and for four generations of the Cooper family, that means their annual Christmas Eve celebration. Charlotte (Keaton) and her husband, Sam (Goodman), host the festivities as their daughter Eleanor (Wilde) brings a handsome –and fake -- boyfriend (Lacy) home for the holidays and their son, Hank (Helms), struggles with single fatherhood. Charlotte's sister, Emma (Tomei), throws a wrench into the festivities when she gets herself arrested for shoplifting, and other unexpected visitors show up for Christmas, turning the celebration upside down.
