Stafford Weiss (Cusack) is a famed TV psychologist and self-help guru. Among his client list of Hollywood glitterati is fading actress Havana Segrand (Moore), who is still haunted by the shadow of her mother, a ‘60s screen legend. Stafford’s wife, Christina (Williams), manages the career of their child-star son Benjie (Bird) who, at 13 years old, has recently come off a stint in rehab. Further issues arise when the Weiss’ estranged daughter Agatha (Wasikowska) arrives in town looking to make amends, having been released from a sanatorium for criminal pyromania.
