In the near future, most people live in dreary slums. To escape the drudgery of their day-to-day lives, many spend their free time in a virtual reality world called OASIS, whose creator recently died and left behind a challenge: whoever can discover a treasure that he hid within the virtual world will inherit both ownership of the game, and his multi-billion-dollar fortune. Wade Watts (Sheridan) is an OASIS player working with his friends to find the treasure, but a villainous corporation is also drawing close to finding it, a prize that will let it seize OASIS for itself.
