Academy Award winner Meryl Streep stars alongside real-life daughter Mamie Gummer in this comedy-drama. Aging rock goddess Ricki Rendazzo (Streep) achieved her dreams of musical stardom at the expense of the family she abandoned. When her estranged daughter, Julie (Gummer), faces a difficult divorce, Ricki’s ex-husband Pete (Kline) asks her to come to Chicago to be with Julie. Facing the bitterness of the now-grown children she neglected and Pete’s new wife (McDonald), Ricki looks for a second chance to be a mother.
