Five years after the death of her husband, Garrett, Nikki (Bening) is amazed to meet Tom (Harris), an art teacher who looks almost exactly like the man she lost. Not only does he bear a strikingly similar physical resemblance, but Tom possesses many of Garrett’s admirable internal characteristics too. A romance forms between the two: Nikki attempting to pick up where her marriage left off, and Tom, with no idea about his uncanny resemblance, being drawn into the mystery of why Nikki’s feelings for him are so immediately strong.
