Maria (Callies), Michael (Sisto) and their two children, Oliver (Creran) and Lucy (Rosinsky), live a picture-perfect life abroad, but all of that comes crashing to halt when an accident kills Oliver. Inconsolable, Maria is desperate to connect with her son to say her final goodbyes, so she jumps at the chance to visit a strange temple in the jungle that acts as as passageway between the living world and that of the dead. Maria's visit doesn't go as planned, however, as she disobeys a warning to leave the temple door shut, disturbing the delicate balance between life and death.
