After the birth of her third child, Marlo (Theron) is worn out, sleep deprived and frustrated with her husband, Drew (Livingston), so when her wealthy brother (Duplass) offers to pay for a night nanny to help look after the baby, she reluctantly takes him up on the offer despite being hesitant at first about the extravagance. Although their relationship gets off to a rocky start, the mother and nanny, a young woman named Tully (Davis), soon begin to form a unique and special bond, sharing the burdens of life, love and motherhood.
