Although the roots of wrestling originated with the Greeks, a similar sport was already practiced in pre-Hispanic Mexico. Archaeologists have confirmed this with sculptures depicting Olmec warriors participating in these sacred matches. However, in the 1950s, Mexico witnessed the birth of professional wrestling legends during the golden age of this spectacle: El Santo, Blue Demon, Mil Mascaras, El Cavernario Galindo, El Rayo de Jalisco, and Huracán Ramirez. Mexican wrestling has reached unprecedented levels, as it is not just a sport but a tradition that is an essential part of Mexican popular culture and has spread throughout Latin America.
