Supervillain-turned-good guy Gru (Carell) has a good life with his adopted daughters and loving wife, Lucy (Wiig). He reconnects with his long-lost twin brother Dru (Carell), who is everything that Gru is not: cheerful, charming and very successful. Despite the sibling rivalry that exists between the two, Dru is eager to team up with his brother for one last heist: the theft of a massive diamond possessed by former child star Balthazar Bratt (Parker), a man who is obsessed with the character that he played back in the days of his stardom.
