2014 True Story

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb (Renner) stumbles onto some knowledge that makes him the target of a vicious smear campaign in this true story. When he uncovers information about the origins of the crack epidemic in America, he learns that while dealers smuggled cocaine into California, the CIA looked the other way and used the profits to arm rebels in Nicaragua. Despite threats to himself and his family, Webb maintains that the public has the right to know about the conspiracy he continues to investigate, putting not just his reputation as a journalist in the crosshairs, but his life as well.
