Several years after the defeat of the Kaiju -- monstrous creatures of titanic size from another world -- thanks, in part, to his father’s brave sacrifice, Jake Pentecost (Boyega) is plucked from the criminal underworld by his estranged sister Mako (Kikuchi) to rejoin the Jaeger program when the Kaiju reappear. The Jaegers are massive robotic machines built to fight the monsters, but with the news that one of them has gone rogue and that someone on Earth has reopened the rift to the Kaiju’s world, the fight to save humanity from extinction has gotten even more desperate.
