When Raymond Engersol (Langella), an 80-year-old man, tells his family he has made arrangements to be euthanized in Oregon, his daughter Kate (Applegate) is determined to stop him. When another family emergency arises, she tasks her husband Brian (Crudup) with the unlucky job of driving Raymond from New York to Oregon and showing him that life is worth living. Brian has one problem: He hates his father-in-law. With Raymond’s wife Estelle (Place) tagging along, Brian must deal with both his in-laws while trying to convince Raymond he doesn’t want to die
