In the year 2032, golf is made illegal. What is a golfer to do? It's 2099. Donald Pleasence plays 'Chaff' Chaffinch. He was born at 23.55 on December 31st 1999 and is now approaching his 100th birthday. Chaff is a stylite - a religious zealot who lives on top of a column overlooking the Ethiopian desert - where he reflects his family history, and on the horrors and absurdities of the new millennium.
