Old friends Harry and Frank are reunited when their former comrade Albert asks them to fulfil his dying request - he wants to be buried in Germany at the place where, as young soldiers, they joined up with the Russians in 1945. After Albert's death, Harry and Frank steal his body and set off for the continent, reminiscing and bickering along the way before having to confront some painful truths.
