1989-Present Reality TV
Cats falling in toilets, babies laughing uncontrollably, dogs running into screen doors, and people blowing up snowmen; what do all of these have in common? They are the tape and glue that create America’s Funniest Home Videos. Airing since 1989, the show has had no lack of material throughout the years. People send in their comedic videos, and if they’re good enough, the show’s producers put them on the air. At the end of the hour-long episode the audience is shown the top 3 videos of the show. Then it’s up to the audience to pick the $25,000 winner. There is no lack of embarrassing moments on the show, and it's always great when one video recorded miss-step could potentially win you $25,000.
