Assisted by Noreen Khan and Yasmin Khan, the Sharma family go back in time to discover what life was like for South Asian families who came to settle in Britain from the 1950s onwards. The Sharmas follow in the footsteps of their parents' and grandparents' generations as they grapple with inadequate accommodation, long work hours, and experience changing social and political conditions in Britain. Their journey takes them through the decades up to the present day, where they reflect on the challenges they have faced, and how things have changed.
