In the not-so-distant future, in the Canadian Arctic, the ice cap has melted. Amid competing sovereignty claims, Borealis, a lawless land of shipping crates and portable trailers, is born. Airships float above, and history-changing artifacts are released from melting permafrost. In each episode, Vic, the owner of Borealis' airstrip, hotel and bar, attempts to keep the peace among the countries vying for oil. The political, environmental and social impact of an unfrozen land and its resources reaches new heights.
