Fueled in part by the proliferation of reality shows covering the collector-car industry, competition in the U.S. to locate and buy vintage automobiles is stiffer than ever. So why not venture outside the States and see what other countries have to offer in this trade? That's what Antonio Brunet and Yusuf Johnson have done, and that's chronicled in "Chrome Underground." Brunet -- the founder of Austin-based Motoreum, which bills itself as Texas' premier classic-car dealer -- and Johnson go where other collectors avoid -- lawless countries. The payoff can be huge, but so are the risks. The guys are targets for thieves because they carry lots of cash, and they are making dangerous deals in places they barely understand. Also, many of the vehicles haven't been driven for decades, and chances of them breaking down in gang-controlled areas are high.
