Even though Los Angeles is nicknamed the City of Angels, a lot of less-than-angelic activity takes place there. Each episode of this series delves into a murder that happened in the city, using emotional interviews and stylized re-creations to help viewers understand the crimes and the perpetrators. Some spotlighted cases are well-known -- including the tabloid-friendly murder trial of actor Robert Blake, accused of killing his wife in 2001 -- while others didn't make headlines across the country, such as the story of struggling screenwriter Ken McDavid, the owner of a million-dollar life insurance policy who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in 2005.
