Legendary naturalist and TV presenter Sir David Attenborough heads to the Galápagos Islands, one of the world's most extreme and hard-to-reach locations, to explore the unique environments and species of the area. Each episode of the three-part series covers a different aspect of the history and development of this diverse ecosystem, revealing the origin of how the islands rose from the ocean, the evolutionary innovations that helped life develop, and the remarkable fact that no two islands in the chain are the same. Alongside a host of species found nowhere else in the world, Sir David Attenborough features the final known footage of giant tortoise Lonesome George, the last survivor of his well-known species, before his death.
