Along the way, he discovers how African American performers, filmmakers and writers came to transform popular culture around the world. Harewood speaks to legends like Smokey Robinson who recalls how the Motown record label grew from humble beginnings and traces the career of Sidney Poitier who inspired his own career choice. Other contributors include former Vibe editor Danyel Smith, writer MK Asante, Nile Rodgers, and more.
