Great Rail Restorations

Documentary

In a first for railway restoration, this series takes some of the most iconic carriages ever to run on the railways and brings them back to their former glory. Teams of world-class restoration experts each restore a different carriage from a different era, spanning 100 years of railway travel. Projects include one of only two surviving royal coaches used by Queen Victoria in 1887 and a once-glamorous 1960 Pullman dining car. Presented by historian Peter Snow, the show allows viewers to follow the ups and downs of each restoration while TV presenter Henry Cole explores what it was like to be a passenger.
