Former LAPD officer Jack Whelan has a troubled, violent past but has grown accustomed in recent years to a quiet life with wife Amy. But that low-key existence fractures when she disappears. That's when old schoolmate Gary Fischer appears on Jack's doorstep seeking help with a murder case that draws the former cop deeper into the mystery of his wife's disappearance. The more Jack investigates Gary's case, the more complex and surreal his discoveries become, and they pull him down the dark path of his past and toward a conspiracy that leads to a secret society, Qui Reverti, that may be responsible for everything.
