Working for the Marshals Office in Miami, Fla., Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is an old-fashioned lawman at heart who is working in modern times. After Givens guns down mob hit man Tommy Bucks in a controversial but justified shooting, the Marshal is reassigned to work at the Marshals office in Lexington, Ky., which means he has jurisdiction over Harlan County where he grew up. Even though he thought he would never return to Eastern Kentucky, Givens keeps himself busy with his work, bringing to light the crimes of the notorious criminal and drug-dealing family, the Crowders. The show is based of the novels "Pronto" and "Riding the Rap," along with the short story called "Fire in the Hole" by American novelist and screenwriter Elmore Leonard.
