Dominic King is an ex-military man-turned-hostage negotiator who, instead of settling scores with guns and violence, has to prevent violence with words as his only weapon. It's a world that demands a calm and cool demeanour - at least on the outside - and a high level of trust, character traits that were foreign concepts to King in the military. Now, with the help of Angela Beddoes, his business partner (and budding love interest?) in their London-based company, King negotiates for the release of kidnap victims in such faraway lands as the Western Cape province of South Africa and Kashmir, India.
