Museum Secrets

Travel

If you were to visit the world's most popular art museums, you likely still wouldn't see stuff that you'll see in this series. It takes viewers inside six extraordinary museums -- including the Louvre, London's National History Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York -- to areas beyond public galleries that visitors rarely get to see, including a storeroom in which millions of once-living creatures float in formaldehyde. The stories of six irreplaceable treasures, including the Mona Lisa and the golden mask of King Tut, are revealed within the walls of the museums. Also featured are people with deep personal connections to exhibits in the museums who share their stories, including a woman who cannot look at a particular statue without remembering how it caused her grandfather's murder.
