"Outlanders" pays tribute to people who consider hunting not just a sport but a way of life. Developed and hosted by actor, producer and avid outdoorsman Huntley Ritter, the series showcases and shares adventures of everyday hunters for other like-minded enthusiasts to enjoy. To further its "for the people, by the people" mantra, the show uses a lottery system to pick the subjects whose hunts are filmed. "Outlanders" also allows fans to vote on what species they would like to see as prey during a season, and viewers also weigh in on their favorite episodes. The most popular ones win the participants more than $10,000 in gear, trips and other prizes.
