Ash Ketchum sets out with trusty sidekick Pikachu to explore the Kalos region - a new, previously unexplored area - in this season of `Pokémon'. Along the way Ash is joined by some new friends, including an inventor named Clemont and his impulsive little sister, Bonnie, and new trainer Serena. Together they explore the new region, meeting new Pokémon along the way. When not checking out Kalos, Ash takes part in Gym battles in Lumiose City. Jessie, James and Meowth - collectively known as Team Rocket - return as they continue their attempts to catch Pikachu for their boss.
