Challenges include fresh takes on materials like fake fur and concepts like the classic cocktail dress, a color-themed team challenge, and one where the competitors are in charge of dressing stars of another reality show. Having been on the air since 2004, "Project Runway" has provided some professional designers, including Christian Siriano and Leanne Marshall, launching points for their careers.
