Jim Rome's aggressive, rapid-fire delivery of sports news mixed with his unbridled opinions have been a trademark of a broadcasting career that began to take shape on a San Diego all-sports radio station in the early 1990s. Shortly thereafter that program was launched nationally and is now heard by millions of listeners on more than 200 stations each weekday. It also led Rome to a sports talk show career on TV, including stints at ESPN ("Jim Rome Is Burning"), Fox Sports ("The Last Word"), and now as the host of "ROME" on CBS Sports Network. The weekday half-hour show mainly features Rome talking sports (or "smack," as he calls it) with headlining athletes and journalists who cover them.
