When Emily Verma promised herself she would never return to her childhood home, the seedy seaside village of Sandylands, she never imagined a pedalo would be the reason she is pulled back. Her semi-estranged father, local celebrity Les Vegas, is declared `lost at sea' when a pedalo last rented under his name turns up empty and bloodied. Her return home quickly becomes complicated, as she reconnects with her crazy childhood friends, former crushes, and is tracked by a mysterious new arrival to Sandylands, the one-eyed man.
