2009-Present Reality TV
Aspiring entrepreneurs have one hour to pitch an investment idea to business tycoons and venture capitalists in Shark Tank, a reality television show based of the incredibly popular Dragons' Den. The potential investors, or the "sharks," watch as dozens of entrepreneurs pitch their ideas and products, hoping to strike a deal with one of the sharks to get their product off the ground. After going over the concept, product and business model, a shark may bite and agree to invest, or the panel will pass and the entrepreneur goes home empty-handed. Mark Burnett, the mind behind Survivor and The Voice, is the creator and executive producer for Shark Tank.
