Ricky Gervais returns to the stage at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., for the fifth time as host at the awards ceremony that honors people for their achievements in both film and television. Fifteen-time Golden Globe nominee Tom Hanks is this year's recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award, a de facto lifetime achievement award that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awards each year to an entertainment industry luminary for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment. The ceremony will also honor three-time Golden Globe nominee Ellen DeGeneres with the Carol Burnett Award for achievements in television both on and off the screen.
