A crew aboard the submarine Orpheus travels to the farthest depths of the Arctic Ocean on a mission to discover renewable sources of energy. The elite team of scientists from Britain, Russia and the U.S. are led by skipper Frances Kelly, troubled-but-brilliant engineer Clem Donnelly and marine biologist Samson Ungliss. They're experienced and steely but quite nervous about what's ahead, since the last mission of this kind ended when the vessel mysteriously disappeared.
