It's 8th May 1945, VE Day. Vera Makin organises an evening of 'family and forgiveness', but the scars of war remain painful. Nick Stafford's two-part drama about the effects of World War 2 and the wishes of those left to rebuild. In this first instalment, Vera Makin organises a family party, which includes a West Indian merchant seaman, a German daughter-in-law and a son thought lost.
