Ten-year-old Ben is something of a loner: the other kids think he's weird because he loves classical music. His parents think he's weird too, they fight all the time, and his dad hits his mum. Ben has piano lessons at school, but he dreams of being a conductor, and with the help of his music teacher, and the symphony orchestra he keeps hidden in his bedroom, his dream might just come true.
