When the smoke clears, family is sometimes all that remains. `The Smoke' dramatises the lives of a group of dedicated men and women who make up the White Watch crew in a London fire station. Kev is the father figure at the station, where his leadership and firefighting skills are regarded as inspiring and brave. But it doesn't pay to be a hero in this job, something Kev discovers after battling the worst fire of his career. Confident, whip-smart Trish is the love of Kev's life, always standing by him through thick and thin, and his cocksure friend and fellow firefighter Mal lends support and a bit of comic relief to ease the pressure-filled proceedings. The White Watch family also includes Ziggy, Little Al, Rob, Billy the Mince, Big Al, and new boy Dennis.
