From acclaimed writer William Ivory, the comedy-drama `Truckers' depicts a modern Britain told through the lives of everyday workers at a Nottingham haulage yard. Each hour-long episode follows the journey of one character, using the backdrop of his or her workplace - in a cab, driving alone - as a metaphor to explore how isolated people can become in modern society and the importance of human interaction. Characters include father and son co-workers Malachi and Glen; Martin, the 20-something boss who inherited the haulage firm from his dad; outwardly tough Wendy; selfish Steve; and transport manager Michelle, who is secretly in love with Martin.
