The six-episode series, first aired in 1998, stars Jack Davenport as Detective Sergeant Michael Colefield, who discovers a secret government vampire-hunting unit while investigating the disappearance of his partner. Made up of soldier Vaughn Rice, scientist Angela March and Catholic priest Pearse J Harman, the unit's goal is to track down and exterminate people infected with a disease called `Code 5', which is transmitted via a neck bite. Colefield inadvertently becomes part of the unit after he finds his partner too late - he's already infected, and Michael is forced to `kill' him.
