Following on from an earlier version of the series based in northern England, and later Scotland, this revamped version of `Waterloo Road' takes place in a high school in Greater Manchester. The refreshed version of the show features some familiar faces, including Angela Griffin as Kim Campbell, the harassed headteacher. The series tackles a range of issues facing teenagers today such as racism, sexism, being LGBTQ+, coping with mental health issues, and the cost-of-living crisis. They are helped along the way teachers and parents as Kim struggles to maintain control.
