`Women in Love' dramatises the lives of sisters Ursula and Gudrun Brangwen as World War I approaches, with the story chiefly framed around their relationships with friends Rupert and Gerald. As the two relationships become more intense the foursome leaves the Midlands for a trip abroad, and soon after tragedy follows. The two-part drama is based on the novels `The Rainbow' and `Women in Love', two works by DH Lawrence that he originally intended to publish as one. William Ivory melded the books together for this series.
