Despite a nearly 30-year age gap, Ed and Lauren have fallen madly in love and are looking forward to starting a new life together. Unfortunately, the people in their lives aren't in love with the idea. Lauren's family are constantly meddling and Ed's friends think she's a trophy girlfriend. Lauren and Ed share their home with Ed's loveably hapless brother Alan, while Ed's chancer grandson Tim never seems to be too far from his grandfather and his grandfather's wallet. Ed's ex-wife repeatedly refuses to leave the couple in peace and Lauren's disapproving parents have plenty of time on their hands to voice their displeasure.
