The zombie apocalypse lands in Birmingham. Jo has just moved in with her younger sister Kat, a ravenous conspiracy-theorist and gamer. Kat tries to convince Jo that the zombies are here, but it only when a lover of Jo's turns into the undead that she takes it seriously. They decide to flee for their lives on board Dorothy, a narrow boat on the Grand Union canal, as zombies can't swim and the boat moves a little bit faster than the zombies can shuffle. On board are two stowaways, Sunny and Amar, who found themselves trapped in Birmingham after a stag do. As they chug their way down the canal, they realise that the apocalypse doesn't stop the problems of everyday life from happening.
