The Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote his second symphony in 1872. The première was an instant success and the joyful composition won the favour of 'The Five'.

Smetana - Vltava (The Moldau) from Má Vlast
Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads the Berliner Philharmoniker in a wonderful performance of the symphonic poem Vltava (The Moldau) from Bedrich Smetana's Má Vlast (My Country). This performance was part of the Waldbühne Concert 2016.
Chamber music ensemble The Philharmonics pay tribute to the music of Vienna in a 2011 concert from Vienna's Café Sperl. The ensemble consists of musicians from the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic performing five waltzes from Johann Strauss II.
